I am in awe of what you are doing. I’ve known you for a long time, Sara, and have always admired your genuine committment to what you believe in. I had an experience several years ago while visiting my granddaughter in Florida. It was a hot October there, and I was at Wild Oats looking for, among other things, basil. After a frustrating search and even more frustrating attempt at conversation and explanation with a teen-age produce stocker, I realized that the reason there was no basil was that most of the produce raised in Florida is shipped out of state for higher profit than would be gained from selling it locally. There is something so wrong with the way we produce and distribute and consume food in this country. The first summer we had a farm share, I was amazed at the emotional connection I felt every Tuesday when we brought home our week’s goodies. I wish you well in your endeavor and, even from our new home in southern CA in a couple months, will look forward to reading your blog.
